Collis Aureus, the hill at the heart of the Asolo Prosecco DOCG appellation.

The golden hill

Collis Aureus - Morris ‘n Frank is a wine made from grapes harvested in a small, sun-drenched vineyard located atop a hill in the heart of the Asolo Prosecco DOCG appellation, on the foothills of the Alps, in the Veneto Region. A veritable garden on sedimentary soil in the Monfumo area (considered the "Grand Cru" of the Asolo hills), the soil originated as marine deposits and subsequently emerged, following tectonic movements, and is composed primarily of sandstone and limestone.

The vines are relatively young, about seven years old and the grapes are predominantly Glera with the recent addition of a new plant of Bianchetta Trevigiana, a native grape variety that thrives in this area and lends freshness to the wine. The cultivation is carried out without synthetic chemical treatments, using only copper and organic preparations. The grapes are harvested by hand in crates.

Our golden hill

In the treatise “Gli Asolani”, In the treatise "Gli Asolani," written by the humanist and scholar Pietro Bembo during his stay in Asolo toward the end of the 15th century in the form of a dialogue on love, we find the motto that both inspires and summarizes the adventure of Collis Aureus - Morris ‘n’ Frank.

The motto, in its profound meaning it continues to inspire us and we hope it will do the same with all those who will have the opportunity to drink and share our wine.

The resulting sparkling wine is Collis Aureus - Morris ‘n’ Frank, produced using a traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle without separating the yeast and with a very low sulfur dioxide content. It fully represents the identity of the Prosecco produced in this area, with a subtle aroma that tends toward citrus notes and scents of herbs such as mountain thyme and sage.

On the palate, it presents a lovely savory character, thanks in part to the area's microclimate, which positively influences the ripening of the grapes. This microclimate is generated by the mild-temperature air currents that descend along the slopes of Monte Grappa, which protect the hill from the north. It is a sparkling wine, produced in a limited and numbered series of bottles, with an alcohol content that varies from vintage to vintage but always between 10 and 11%, and is very drinkable. Its acidity and flavor, but above all its very low residual sugar and minimal sulfites, make it a versatile wine that adapts to a variety of situations, both as a casual aperitif and with fish and white meat dishes.

MORRIS 'n' FRANK
A tribute to friendship

The label is the same but it changes name when it arrives in Canada becoming "Morris ‘n’ Frank": Maurice and Francesco, two friends who met in Toronto, one from South Africa and the other from Italy. A partnership, first and foremost human and brotherly, then professional, that has lasted for decades, to which the "Morris ‘n’ Frank" label is a tribute to.
